A 50-year-old Brooklyn man was seriously injured Tuesday after dropping several feet through his bathroom floor and into the building's basement.

The Department of Buildings says the floor gave way after the wooden support beams rotted. DOB officials say the building owner was issued a violation for maintenance failure. The victim can't move back into his apartment until a repair is completed and the DOB inspects the floor.

Residents say the building has had many water problems and they worry their apartments are also unstable.
