Exclusive video obtained by News 12 shows the moments just before a deadly stabbing in Cypress Hills early Friday morning.

The video shows two men fighting on the sidewalk in front of a deli as a woman yells, “stop.” The fight seems to break up, but one man walks away, comes back with what looks like a knife, and lunges at the other. A neighbor told News 12 he saw the whole thing from his window.

Police say a 30-year-old man was stabbed in the armpit and later died at Jamaica Hospital. A 25-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach and is stable. Investigators say both men drove themselves to the hospital just after midnight.

At first, police thought the stabbing happened on Hemlock Street, but they later confirmed it took place near Ridgewood Avenue and Crescent Street. When News 12 arrived, crime tape was still wrapped around the deli with its gates pulled down, as well as a beauty salon across the street. Detectives believe both spots are connected to the case.

Police also say the surviving victim is not cooperating, and it’s still not clear if the two men stabbed each other or if someone else was involved.
