A 48-year-old man was stabbed and killed outside a building at the Langston Hughes houses in Brownsville Wednesday evening, and police are still trying to figure out what led up to the attack.
The stabbing happened around 5:30 p.m. outside 301 Sutter Ave. in the 73rd Precinct. Officers were responding to a 911 call about an assault in progress when they found the victim, Kevin Coleman, with multiple stab wounds on the sidewalk.
Coleman, who lived a few blocks away on Miller Avenue, was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition but died a short time later.
Video from the scene showed blood splattered across the sidewalk and a black-handled knife near a fence — one of the few visible pieces of evidence left behind as detectives worked into the night.
As of Thursday morning, no arrests have been made.
