A 48-year-old man was stabbed and killed outside a building at the Langston Hughes houses in Brownsville Wednesday evening, and police are still trying to figure out what led up to the attack. The stabbing happened around 5:30 p.m. outside 301 Sutter Ave. in the 73rd Precinct. Officers were responding to a 911 call about an assault in progress when they found the victim, Kevin Coleman, with multiple stab wounds on the sidewalk. Coleman, who lived a few blocks away on Miller Avenue, was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition but died a short time later. Video from the scene showed blood splattered across the sidewalk and a black-handled knife near a fence — one of the few visible pieces of evidence left behind as detectives worked into the night. As of Thursday morning, no arrests have been made. News 12 will update this story as more information becomes available.
