Heavy police presence was spotted Friday morning outside of an apartment in Brooklyn where a man allegedly set off an explosion inside.
Police say the incident began just before 8 a.m. when a man visiting an apartment building on Madison Street.
According to police, the suspect set off a commercial firecracker inside, blowing out a door and damaging the apartment. Then he allegedly grabbed a hammer and started smashing the windshields of fourteen cars. After smashing the cars, the suspect then got on a motorcycle and took off.
Police say they believe the incident is domestic-related and not an act of terrorism, and that the man did not live in that apartment but had children who did. Neighbors told News 12 this behavior seemed unlike him. No one was hurt in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
