The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday inside Donut Connection on Mermaid Avenue.
Video from inside the shop shows the victim, wearing blue, standing near tables when a man in a black hooded shirt approaches from outside and fires. The victim drops to the floor after being hit in the leg.
He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to police.
Outside the shop, detectives taped off the sidewalk and investigators could be seen going in and out. Blood droplets were spotted on the ground near the entrance.
Neighbors told News 12 the shooting feels especially unsettling because the doughnut shop is such a common stop in the neighborhood. “It’s crazy because I come here all the time—sometimes we go here for coffee during the day, and there’s a lot of people who come in here all the time. It’s just getting crazy,” said Marisol, who lives in Coney Island.
Police say they are looking for three men who took off after the shooting — one of them was seen wearing a black sweatsuit.
So far, no arrests have been made.
