A 44-year-old man was shot in the chest early Thursday morning inside a basement apartment in Flatbush, according to police.

The NYPD says the shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. at 20 Duryea Place, between Flatbush Avenue and East 22nd Street.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a person shot and found the victim with a gunshot wound to his upper left chest.

Investigators say the victim told police he was in a dispute with another man when the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. Police say the bullet caused heavy bleeding, injuring his lung.

A witness told officers the shooter took off on Flatbush Avenue riding a maroon scooter with an Uber bag strapped to the back.

No arrests have been made, and police are still searching for the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
