A portion of Rockaway Avenue in Brownsville was closed this morning after police say a man was shot multiple times Friday.

It happened between Rockaway Avenue and Pacific Street around 3:30 a.m. 

Police say the man was shot four times in the chest, back, groin and leg. He may have been involved in an altercation with the shooter earlier Thursday, and the suspect returned to shoot the man, according to police.

Police say they have since reopened the road as they continue to investigate.
