Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for shooting two security guards at the Riverdale Towers, and the families of the victims are calling for an end to violence.
Investigators say Antonio Mahon is suspected of shooting two security guards working on Livonia Avenue on Nov. 28.
Police say Aaron Locklear was shot in the neck during the attack, and died from his injuries almost two weeks later. They say the other victim, James Mercado, suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was able to recover but cannot walk.
Mercado's cousin, Damita Owens, says he is his taking his recovery one day at a time and hopes to someday walk again.
The victims' families say they feel closure knowing that the man responsible for the shootings is off the streets.
Mahon was charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
