A man who says he drove the men accused of killing a NYPD detective to Pennsylvania to escape took the stand during their trial Monday.

Dexter Bostic, Lee Woods and Robert Ellis are charged with murder in the death of Timoshenko. Detective Russell Timoshenko and his partner were shot after stopping a suspicious SUV in Prospects Lefferts Garden last July. The 23-year-old died from his injuries. His partner was saved by his bulletproof vest.

Prosecutors say Bostic and Ellis fled to Pennsylvania after shooting Timoshenko. The man who claims he drove the pair to a wooded area in Pennsylvania testified about his journey with the men. He testified that Bostic told him they needed to get out of town and lay low. The man also says he was held at knifepoint and was told by the men he was their hostage.

The defense says the man?s story is shaky and believe he is motivated by the reward money.

The case is being heard by three separate juries, one for each of the suspects. If convicted, the men each face life in prison.
