Swastikas found drawn on front porch of Flatbush home A disturbing discovery on a Flatbush home is under investigation as swastikas were found drawn on the front porch.The discovery was made Monday, according to police, but the offensive drawings are still visible on the home’s front porch. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating following the 911 call received around 11 p.m. Monday at the home on East 18th Street between Avenue J and Avenue I.
Teacher from Norwalk contestant on 'Jeopardy!'A teacher from Norwalk was a contestant on one of America's most popular game shows -- "Jeopardy!" Peter Gouveia is a seventh-grade English teacher in Rye, New York. He competed in the Jeopardy Teachers Tournament. Gouveia says he took an online test a year ago this past January and went to auditions in Boston. 
Police: Teen high on drugs hit, killed 4-year-old in BrentwoodPolice say a teen was high on drugs when he hit and killed a 4-year-old girl in front of her Brentwood home. According to police, 19-year-old Christopher Yanes, of Brentwood, hit and killed Roussy Cabrera Fuentes on Fulton Street just before 7 p.m. Tuesday. The little girl was rushed to Southside Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Janelle Mendez joined the Marines in 2007 when she was 17 years old with hopes of someday becoming a leader. She was one of the only female Marines out of thousands stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
New Jersey Turnpike Authority approves toll hikes on Turnpike, ParkwayThe New Jersey Turnpike Authority voted unanimously to increase tolls on two of the state's major highways and approved a $24 billion construction plan that the hike will fund. The board’s 7-0 vote on Wednesday came despite pleas from many people to delay it. They said the agency should not have gone ahead with the hearing process while residents are dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
