Mayor Adams announces new office to combat antisemitism
Adams says 960,000 Jewish people live in the city and like any group, should not feel afraid.

Mayor Eric Adams announced a new office dedicated to fighting antisemitism following the rise in hate crimes against the Jewish community.
Adams says the new interagency task force within his administration will focus not just on antisemitic crime, but all forms of antisemitism.
The administration says it will have a head-on approach, working with schools, college campuses and any city-funded entity.
Moshe Davis, the Jewish liaison for the mayor's Community Affairs Office, will now be appointed as the director of this new initiative.
Adams says 960,000 Jewish people live in the city and like any group, should not feel afraid.
"In this city, hate has no place, and you cannot allow groups to be targeted and go on as business as usual," said Mayor Adams.
This announcement comes just days after dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters at Columbia University and Brooklyn College were suspended, barred and some even arrested.
The mayor says these demonstrations are a piece of the puzzle. He adds more than 50% of hate crimes in the city are targeted at the Jewish community.
The administration hopes this new office will help make a change.
