Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday there will be a 24-hour public vaccination site in each of the five boroughs.
The Bathgate Industrial Park in Morrisania will be one of five new COVID-19 vaccine sites that will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to vaccinate eligible New Yorkers against COVID-19.
Work will begin to prepare the Brooklyn Army Terminal Annex Building for 24 hours.
De Blasio says the new immunization centers will help ramp up citywide efforts to get as many front-line workers and eligible New Yorkers protected against the virus.
The goal is to administer 100,000 vaccine doses a week from the new locations. The city's positivity rate continues to raise particularly in communities of color.
De Blasio called for a push to speed up vaccine distribution in a recent letter sent to Vice President Mike Pence.
The city is looking to have both the Brooklyn and Bronx vaccine locations up and running by this weekend.
