Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a new vaccine incentive that could put some extra money in New Yorkers’ pockets.
The mayor says anyone who gets vaccinated at a city-run site will be eligible for a chance to win $2,500.
He says 10 winners will be chosen per week through July.
De Blasio also spoke about troubling trends of counterfeit paper license plates in the city that allow for suspects to get away from crimes being committed.
Chief of Department Rodney Harrison says this is partially a result of the Department of Motor Vehicles being closed during the pandemic.
The NYPD says it is partnering with the Department of Transportation to crack down on the issue and that it is training officers on how to detect the fraudulent license plates.
The mayor says the raffle is only for New Yorkers who are not yet vaccinated, and they need to make an appointment to qualify.
