New York City high schools will welcome students back for in-person learning on March 22.
Mayor Bill de Blasio made the announcement alongside incoming Schools Chancellor Meisha Ross Porter during his daily press briefing.
De Blasio says schools are a part of what many New York City families depend on, and that the city is prepared for them to reopen.
Porter says that a total of 55,000 high schoolers will return to the classroom. She says teachers and staff will return on March 18.
The mayor says half of New York City high schools will be providing in-person learning five days a week for students, and that number will continue to increase over time.
De Blasio also announced that PSAL sports will return in April and will go into the summer months with strict safety guidelines.
