Mayor: NYC schools will remain open Monday as positivity rate remains below 3%
Mayor Bill de Blasio says New York City schools will remain open Monday as the coronavirus positivity rate remained below 3%.
The mayor tweeted Sunday that the seven-day positivity rate in the city was at 2.57%.
De Blasio has previously stated that if the rate goes above the 3% threshold then schools would be forced to close.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo urged the city to keep schools with a lower infection rate than their surrounding areas open, even in red zones.
Sunday is also the final day for families to choose blended learning, which allows for both remote and in-person classes.
