Some medical professionals at Brookdale Hospital are lending their expertise to keep Brooklyn kids on the right track with a mentoring program.
Dr. Mary Baldauf started Mentoring Thru Medicine, which is a program that gives students involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters a reality check about what really happens when violence occurs.
Baldauf said she?s turning the negativity of violence into something positive by attempting to stop the cycle of neighborhood violence. Baldauf said students get to see what happens to gunshot and stab victims once they arrive at the hospital, and how those events affect their lives.
