A physically and mentally ill Brooklyn man has been found safe after he was reported missing from a Brownsville facility one week ago.
Workers say 42-year-old Lawrence Bruce arrived back at the housing facility Thursday morning.
Police say he went missing Dec. 31 from Volunteers of America, which provides assistance to homeless individuals.
Facility officials say residents are free to come and go as they please.
However, they say Bruce does suffer from bipolar disorder and physical disorders which prompted officials at Volunteers of America to contact police when he went missing.
People who live near the facility say residents with mental and physical disabilities should be closely monitored and urged to stay at the facility before they consider leaving.
