Windswept downpours taper, windy conditions remain across Brooklyn

Watch for isolated downed tree branches tonight as the rain ends, but the wind does not stop. It also gets colder heading into the weekend.

Windswept downpours will bring ponding on roads and sidewalks this evening, impacting commuting conditions.
Rain quickly tapers off around 9 p.m., with only a few leftover sprinkles remaining across parts of the borough through midnight. There will be ponding and pooling, especially in newly created potholes, which will be hard to see at night. Unfortunately, it is only a brief burst of heavy rain, this will not significantly improve the drought conditions. Even though the rain ends this evening, the wind remains behind the storm. Gusts between 25-35 mph are likely through the end of the workweek.
It will get colder through Friday, with highs returning to typical early-March levels, in the middle 40s. Any rain stays far away for Saturday as the expectation is a storm will miss us. Major changes are in store for next week. A late-spring surge of warmth with 70-degree temperatures are possible by midweek, especially on Wednesday and Thursday.
