A young girl was rescued by her mother after getting pulled under a sanitation sweeper truck Friday morning.
A witness says the truck was making a left turn as the girl was crossing the street with her mother and a baby in a carriage. According to the witness, the truck hit the girl, pulling her beneath the brooms of the truck. He says the carriage was also hit, but the baby was not hurt.
The witness says the driver of the truck stopped after the incident and appeared to be very upset.
The girl was taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Department of Sanitation says the driver was taken away for Breathalyzer and urine tests, which is standard procedure when trucks get into accidents.
