Saturday marked a special day for Brooklyn residents with a penchant for the dark side, as the doors of the Morbid Anatomy Museum opened to the public.
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the three-story museum, located in a former Gowanus nightclub.
Inside, curious visitors could find everything from books on taxidermy to a photographic history of mental and mood disorders. There are also plenty of depictions of skulls to peek inside of, as well as a vast array of post-mortem photos.
Joanna Ebenstein, the museum's creative director, says the exhibits allow people to see things that no one wants to talk about.
The museum will be open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Tuesday.
