Residents in Morrisania came together tonight to discuss neighborhood violence, after two teenage girls were shot this weekend.
Organizers of the meeting say the girls were shot on the corner of Lyman Place and Freeman Street, an area known for gang violence.
The girls, ages 14 and 15, were each shot in the leg just after 9 p.m. on Sunday evening.
Assemblyman Eric Stevenson, who organized the event, says he is working with local clergy members on a gun buyback program specifically for the neighborhood. Police: 2 teens shot in Morrisania
