A Brooklyn mother is speaking out after her 4-year-old son was fatally struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run crash in Brownsville.

It happened around 11 a.m. Thursday outside Brookdale Hospital on Rockaway Parkway near Linden Boulevard.

Police identified the victim Friday as Zachariah Padilla.

“[First responders] kept working on him,” said Harmonie Wright, the child’s mother. “They didn’t want to give up on him.”

Wright said she was going to the hospital to pick up paperwork.

One witness told News 12 that the child got away from his mother and ran into the street, where he was hit by a white SUV.

Investigators said the driver did not stop.

The child was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said Friday that the driver of the white SUV had the green light while the child was in the marked crosswalk on Rockaway Parkway.

“[The driver] hit [the child],” said Wright. “I banged on his car, he ran over him, then I got hit. We’re going to get justice because love will win before hate!”

Police are still looking for that driver.
