Young men are learning their rights and the rights of those who protect and serve today thanks to an initiative launched by Mott Hall Bridges Academy.
Through the 'I Matter Initiative,' young men of color get the chance to interact and receive mentoring from men in leadership roles.
During the program, young men will get to share ideas and information about the roles and responsibilities of elected officials and law enforcement.
Participants in the program also discuss how they can make changes in their community and become leaders themselves.
Adrian Caddle, an 'I Matter Initiative' participant at Mott Hall Bridges Academy, says he is hoping to learn things from the program that he can bring back to his community. He says he also hopes to help create better relationships with law enforcement and stop violence in his community.
There are a total of five programs that the young men will participate in throughout this school year. All programs will be focused around making sure they know that they matter.
