A group of Mott Haven residents say they are fed up with a stench coming from a swamp surrounding their apartment buildings.
The residents say they have been fighting for years to have the land beneath a stretch of abandoned railroad tracks cleaned up. They say the company that owns the land has been unresponsive and the situation has worsened.
The city's Department of Finance says the property is owned by Metropolitan 47th LLC, which owes $6,000 to the Department of Health.
Many residents of the apartment buildings have resorted to moving out of the area. Those still living there say they will follow suit if nothing is done about the stench.
