Students at M.S. 88 took part in a puppy-centered program to help them learn about feelings and emotions Thursday.
The idea is that dogs can calm humans down when they feel stressed.
The Mutt-i-grees curriculum -- a play on the word pedigree associated with dogs -- is part of the North Shore Animal League America.
Students sit in a circle and bond with a puppy supplied by the shelter.
Organizers say the program also teaches children social skills.
The program, which visits 80 schools in Brooklyn and around 200 throughout the city, also raises awareness about shelter dogs and adoption.
