The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is making sure New Yorkers stay safe during this year's SantaCon NYC.
As in years past, the MTA says it will ban the consumption of alcohol on Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road trains. The ban will take effect starting at 4 a.m. on Saturday and will end at noon on Sunday.
Alcohol consumption will also be banned at all LLRR and Metro-North station platforms during those hours.
The MTA police department says it will also be increasing its presence at Penn Station and Grand Central terminal to enforce these restrictions stating they will confiscate alcoholic beverages and issue summonses. Violators may also be removed from trains or stations by police.
NJ Transit has also banned alcohol for SantaCon this weekend.
