The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has announced the rollout of its first-of-its-kind customer service centers. Three subway stations across the city are rolling out the new service.
The ribbon-cutting unveiling the new customer service centers took place at the Stillwell Avenue station on Tuesday morning, where one of the three first customer service centers are now open.
The agents behind these service centers are taking on new roles, including coming out of the booths to help customers learn how to use OMNY and accessing the online kiosks to help customers transition to using these digital features.
The other two stations rolling out the service are at the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and 161st Street-Yankee Stadium stations. The MTA says a total of 12 different customer service centers will open across the subway system throughout 2023.
These booths will be fully staffed to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help riders transition to OMNY and slowly move away from MetroCard use.
