New subway cars designed to hold more passengers could be introduced to the public very soon, according to the MTA.
The MTA has proposed a plan to introduce "open gangway" style subway cars to the public by 2020.
The cars are designed to hold more commuters with one seamless car opposed to several cars divided by doors.
Cities around the world like London, Berlin, Paris and cities in Canada are already using the trains.
The design was created in 2013, and now the MTA has included it in its capital budget plan for 2016.
Two trains will cost an estimated $52 million.
