Brooklyn high school students from Edward R. Murrow High School were victorious at the New York State Chess Championship yesterday.
Heading into the event, the local teens were feeling the pressure as their school chess team has had a book written about their past victories. The students were also determined to redeem themselves after last year's disappointing loss.
"There was pressure but it was an amazing comeback. The stars were aligned for Murrow," said Murrow High chess club coach Eliot Weiss.
The chess champions are set to participate in the nationals in Atlanta in the beginning of April.
