Migrants seeking asylum in New York City have been welcomed with open arms by one house of worship in Brooklyn.

The Muslim Community Center in Sunset Park has become home for over a dozen migrants.

The center has transformed a room used for prayer into a place for the migrants to sleep at night.

The room has beds, sheets, blankets and pillows that have been donated by the center.

Soniya Ali, who has been working closely with migrants at the center, says the place has become a home for so many people.

News 12 was told there are 17 men using the room and there are still two beds open for anyone who needs a place to stay.

The Muslim Community Center says their mission is to be able to help as many people as possible get acclimated to the area and not trying to turn anyone away.
