Muslim leaders in Brooklyn are rallying against Donald Trump.

They say the Republican presidential candidate made offensive comments about Muslims in a recent interview, suggesting that he would shut down mosques to stop ISIS. In an interview on Fox Business Network that aired on Wednesday, Trump was asked if he would mimic efforts in the United Kingdom of taking away passports of those trying to join ISIS and shutting down mosques.

Trump responded, "I would do that. Absolutely. I think it's great."

Host Stuart Varney followed up, asking, "Can you do it? Can you close a mosque? I mean, we do have religious freedom."

"Well, I don't know. I mean, I haven't heard about the closing of the mosque," Trump answered.

Muslim leaders and Borough President Eric Adams are calling for an apology.

"For him to say 'I don't know,' that is the wrong answer. He should be saying, 'I know, I'm not going to close any faith-based institution that is not committing any type of crime,'" says Adams.

A spokesperson for the Trump campaign declined to comment.
