Muslim woman says she was attacked on Avenue H in possible hate crime
A mother of three says she was attacked over the weekend because of her religious beliefs.
Police tell News 12 they are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.
It happened on Avenue H around 3:30 p.m.
Police say the suspect, who was caught on surveillance video, is described as being 5 feet 7 inches and between the ages of 20 to 25 years old with an average build.
He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater, a black jacket with light colored sleeves and blue jeans.
The victim says she was walking home Saturday afternoon when a man she has never met came up and kicked her. She says he never said a word but in her mind his motive was clear. She believes she was targeted because of her religion and now she scared to go anywhere
"I was so scared to walk in the street today. I had to go to the doctor today, it's just two blocks away and I was just walking, and I was just looking around like this back and forth and I feel like somebody is following me," says Nisar.
While she wasn't seriously hurt, she says the incident left her terrified.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
