Those traveling around the city this weekend may be able to ditch their MetroCard.
Starting May 31, Apple Pay will roll out at certain subway stations as part of the MTA's test of its new tap-to-pay fare payment system called OMNY.
For now, the system will only be available on the 4,5 and 6 subway lines between Grand Central and Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and on the buses in Staten Island.
Last week, Google announced Google Pay will be compatible with the May 31 debut.
Straphangers can also use contactless credit, debit or prepaid card by tapping the card on the OMNY reading.
MetroCards will still be accepted everywhere until OMNY is fully rolled out, which is expected to roll out by late 2020.
What do you think about this new way to pay?
