The National Football League has banned players from kneeling while on the field during the playing of the national anthem, in a policy change.
The NFL announced Wednesday that players who are on the field during the playing of the national anthem are prohibited from taking a knee.
The league says it will fine players who do not abide by the policy.
However, not all players are required to be present on the field during the playing of the national anthem and may remain inside the locker room until it is over.
The change in policy has critics on both sides.
President Donald Trump has widely criticized the NFL for its policy regarding players who kneel during the national anthem.
