The latest scandal of sex abuse in the church has shed light on new cases in New York City where big payouts are being made to the victims

A former student of Cardinal Hayes recently claimed to have been molested back in the 1980s.
The legal compensation is part of the Archdiocese's Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program.
Last year, the New York Times named 8 Brooklyn priests accused of sex abuse.

Since then, investigations have been opened around the world.
