2h agoAnother satellite in the Joint Polar Satellite System Series is scheduled to launch next month.
JPSS-2 is second in the series of next generation polar-orbiting satellites of five to launch.
These satellites take photos and measurements as they circle around the Earth from pole to pole, which helps scientists plan for hurricanes, snowstorms, floods, as well as increase the accuracy of severe weather forecasts.
They also map and monitor wildfires and volcanoes.
The launch is scheduled for Nov. 1 from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
