Some serious talent was on display at the Turkey Day Battle 2018, hosted by the Brooklyn United Music and Arts program at a Canarsie high school.
Marching bands, dance teams and drum lines all packed into the gym to showcase their skills.
At age 12, Makhi Crosland plays the snare drum for the Brooklyn United Drum Line. To him, the group is more than just teammates - he describes it as a big, happy family.
Organizer Tyrone Brown says the musical program can also help kids in school.
"The same effort you give in drumline and dance line, give that same effort in school. That's our goal," Brown says.
