A Brooklyn Nets player helped to bring hope and smiles to the children of incarcerated parents.
Sean Kilpatrick came out with other volunteers and Starbucks employees Sunday to do some spring cleaning and repainting at the Children of Promise building.
The organization offers afterschool programs and counseling to the children of incarcerated parents.
The organization's founder says the goal is to break the intergenerational cycle of prison time in the criminal justice system by empowering the youth.
Kilpatrick also spoke to the kids about never giving up. "Always continue to keep following your dreams and making sure that you can control what you can control," he said.
