Neighbors in one Brooklyn neighborhood are speaking out about what some say are noisy and unwanted Sunday mornings because of the singing from a nearby church. The Celestial Church of Christ is mostly a Nigerian congregation. Its Sunday morning Mass includes lively singing and prayer. Some neighbors say the singing is nice, but many others say that in their opinion, the music is disruptive and unwarranted. Although the church has been in Clinton Hill for 15 years, neighbor Doug Bowen claims the building?s permit is for an art gallery, not a church. However, an official from the New York City Department of Buildings says the tax status for the site is for a church or a synagogue. Representatives from Celestial Church of Christ insist their singing is no louder than any other church and they have a right to be there.
