A new affordable housing complex named "The Corden" in the Bronx is helping support domestic violence survivors and working to keep them off the street.
The building is named for Carol Corden. The building and the woman it's named for both have the same mission - to decrease homelessness, especially for domestic violence survivors.
The new $35 million building is located on East 165th Street and has 62 units inside. Thirty-seven of those are dedicated to families who were homeless because of domestic violence.
However, there's more to the building than just apartments. There is also a wide range of services that work to support tenants with everything from keeping a roof over their head to becoming financially sound.
