The Coney Island community is celebrating the rededication of a new health center more than two years after it was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.
The Ida G. Israel Community Health Center was rebuilt with $7.5 million in FEMA funds. The building is now elevated to protect against future storm surges.
The facility will provide a variety of health services just as it once did, from primary care for adults to chemical dependency.
It's set to start taking patients at the end of August.
