Brooklyn's hotel industry is booming, according to the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
More than 10 new hotels are going up in areas such as Park Slope, Sunset Park, East New York and Coney Island. About 3,000 rooms are planned or are under construction in the borough; officials expect 500 rooms to be complete by the end of 2007.
Industry experts say nightly rates will range from $300 to more budget-friendly figures comparable to motels, depending on the type of hotel. They say it will still be cheaper than staying in Manhattan.
Officials say the hotel construction will play a large role in the city's efforts to attract about 50 million tourists to help spur the economy.
