Early Red Nose Day festivities kick off in Dumbo
15h agoMercaz Academy, a Jewish day school, opened today in Plainview.
Mercaz, located at 25 Country Drive, is an innovative Orthodox, co-educational, pre-K through sixth grade school.
“For the students, it is their first day of school; for Mercaz Academy, it is our school’s first day,” said Gary Katz, chairman of the school’s Board of Trustees.
Mercaz Academy was established by two families in order to provide a high-quality education in secular and Judaic subjects to Jewish children across central Long Island.
Students of families attending Mercaz span a wide spectrum of religious affiliation and levels of family observance.
The grand opening celebration will continue on Sept. 11.
