Tens of thousands of people came out to watch the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island on Saturday.
The event is held every Fourth of July at the corner of Surf and Stillwell avenues.
In the men's competition, reigning champ Joey Chestnut, who had won for the past 8 years, was defeated. He handed over his title to Matthew Stonie, who devoured 62 hot dogs this year.
Chestnut, however, still holds the all-time best record of 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
Last year's women's champion Miki Sudo defended her title by devouring 38 hot dogs and buns within the 10 minutes.
