The new district manager of a northern Bronx community board says he's ready to make his mark with a big vision.
Community Board 7 District Manager Fernando Tirado has plans to revitalize shopping, create jobs and decide what to do with the old Kingsbridge Armory.Tirado, along with board members, will help shape development and policy in neighborhoods such as University Heights and Norwood. He believes he's the right man for the job.
"I went to high school here in the Bronx," Tirado says. "I've had plenty of friends and family here in the Bronx. I remember shopping here on Fordham Road."
In addition to personal ties to the region, Tirado has more than 12 years experience working with New York City government, most of it with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Tirado officially takes the reigns Jan. 7. The position has no term limits.
