A bunch of new New York City public schools will be opening up across the five boroughs this upcoming fall, including seven in Brooklyn and one in the Bronx.
Chancellor David Banks announced these new schools at Tweed Courthouse on Thursday, saying that the goal of opening these new schools is to reimagine education.
“Whatever you are looking for, we have it in the New York City public schools, and we're gonna have even more now,” said Banks, who says the new schools will focus on non-traditional curriculums that are advanced and accessible for all students.
Some of the neighborhoods seeing new schools include East New York, Sunset Park and Dyker Heights in Brooklyn, as well as Highbridge in the Bronx.
