With only 60 days to go before the gates open at the new Yankee Stadium, officials report construction is on schedule and the keys are to be given to the team on Tuesday.
According to workers, the ballpark is 95 percent done and will be ready on its completion date. "It's really nice inside. It's bigger, very spacious," says stadium worker Clinton Thomas.
Fans say they're excited for the new stadium's debut, but many are also sad to see the old one go. "The new one looks impressive from the outside," says long-time fan Jennifer Heggen. "I kind of like the old one as well. I think it's got some charm."
Other fans still disagree with the $1.3 billion investment in the stadium. "I think it's a very beautiful stadium, but I don't think it's necessary," says Yankee fan Alan Grear.
As all fans anticipate the home opener just two months from now, they can first watch the Yankees play the Chicago Clubs in a pair of exhibition games on April 3 and 4.
