News 12 visited multiple COVID-19 testing sites in the Bronx that were listed as opened on Christmas morning. Upon arrival, they appeared to be closed.
It follows four consecutive days of record-breaking daily
cases in New York state. The
positivity rate around the five boroughs is at 7.5% with city data reporting
more than 12,000.
The
increase is rippling across the city – Broadway shows closed their productions
and on Christmas eve, hundreds of flights were canceled due to staff shortages.
Mayor
Bill de Blasio says the city is ramping up its testing and vaccination efforts,
opening new testing sites and giving out free at-home testing kits.
