The Department of Parks and Recreation are working on a water trail guide so boaters and tourists that take to vessels can navigate the city?s waters.
The department says there are 18 launching sites throughout the city for people to get into the water from, but some say that is not enough.
The department has created a Web site survey to identify where launch sites are needed and how to navigate through the waters. A spokesperson from the department says there will be a map of New York City that indicates launching sites and users can click on them for further information.
Before the map is completed, some say easy access to the water needs to be the first goal. Some complain cyclists and walkers have an easier time navigating the city than do kayakers or boaters.
The department says the map will be available to boaters by spring 2008.
