The organization Women in Need (WIN) celebrated Friday as the skeleton of the Stone House building was completed.
Stone House is expected to be the largest supportive housing facility for formerly homeless families in New York City.
Once the building opens, it will be able to house 161 homeless families. WIN says 70 percent of these families include children.
In addition to apartments, Stone House will include day care centers.
The goal of supportive housing facilities like Stone House is to prevent families from returning to shelters.
Stone House is expected to open officially a year from today.
